LVMH's alpine flagship is the most complete address in the resort: 36 serene, design-led suites on the Jardin Alpin, ski-in/ski-out to the door, and Le 1947 — Yannick Alléno's three-Michelin-star restaurant, the only three-star table in any ski resort in the Alps. Quiet where others are loud, it wins on the totality of rooms, service, spa and that singular kitchen.

Best for families — Les Airelles

Fairytale gilded salons and the most famous children's club in the Alps make Les Airelles the family choice — maximalist, theatrical and built around keeping every generation happy. Le K2 Palace runs it close: a warm Himalayan chalet village with connecting suites, a superb spa and a two-star table the grown-ups can slip away to.

Best for dining — the Michelin count

Five of the eight keep a starred kitchen in-house. Cheval Blanc leads with three stars (Le 1947); two houses hold two stars — Le Sarkara at Le K2 Palace, the world's only two-star dessert restaurant, and Baumanière 1850 at Le Strato; and two hold one — L'Altitude at Le K2 Altitude and Alpage at Annapurna. For a week built around the table, you can sleep above a Michelin kitchen every night.

Best for true ski-in / ski-out — Barrière Les Neiges

Every palace here claims ski-in/ski-out, but Barrière Les Neiges is the only one planted directly on the Bellecôte piste — clip in at the door, and a 5,000 m² spa waiting when you clip out. It is the literal answer to ‘ski to the door’.

Best for quiet design — L'Apogée and Le K2 Altitude

For guests who want the polish without the scene, L'Apogée pairs India Mahdavi interiors with a discreet, slope-side calm, while Le K2 Altitude sits higher and quieter by the altiport, all Tibetan warmth and Asian art — a one-star table and no crowds.

Best value at the top — Annapurna

The highest hotel in 1850, Annapurna trades a little polish for space, sun and direct piste access across 70 rooms — the gentlest way into a five-star week, with the one-star Alpage downstairs.
