The Other Season

When the snow recedes, Courchevel reveals an entirely different identity — alpine meadows, mountain golf at 1,850 metres and Europe's most ambitious hiking network.

Frequently asked

  • What is there to do in Courchevel in summer?

In summer Courchevel is an alpine playground: hiking across 600 km of Vanoise National Park trails, the 18-hole Golf Club 1850 at altitude, lift-served mountain biking on the Bike Park network, the Aquamotion water centre, scenic helicopter and turboprop flights from the altiport, paddle-boarding and fly-fishing on the mountain lakes, and open-air dining.

  • When is Courchevel open in summer?

The summer season runs roughly late June to early September. Golf Club 1850 opens in late June, the Bike Park and mountain lifts open in July and typically run into late August, and hiking is at its best in September — stable weather, turning larches and far fewer crowds.

  • Is there a golf course in Courchevel?

Yes — Golf Club 1850 is an 18-hole, par-71 course carved into the mountainside at around 2,000 m, among the highest in the Alps, open from late June to late September. Its seventh tee is one of the most photographed in French golf.

  • Can you go hiking in Courchevel?

Extensively. Courchevel sits on the edge of the Vanoise, France's oldest national park, with everything from the gentle Lac de la Rosière loop to ridgeline traverses over the Col de la Loze — part of a 600 km network, much of it lift-accessible in summer.
