June — September

Summer Dining

Most palace-hotel restaurants close. A handful of Michelin houses, the golf clubhouse and a small clutch of mountain refuges carry the season — and reveal terraces the winter never shows.

Courchevel's winter dining map shrinks dramatically from June to September. The trade-off: south-facing terraces open, mountain refuges reopen for hikers, and tables that need a month's notice in February are available same-day. Always confirm opening — schedules shift year to year.

Where to eat by intent

  • Le Chabichou

    Michelin · Summer open

One of the few two-starred houses that operates a summer service. The garden terrace is the version of the restaurant winter visitors never see.

  • Golf 1850 Clubhouse

    Lunch · Open to all

South-facing terrace overlooking the seventh fairway. Salads, plancha and a serious wine list. Non-golfers welcome.

  • Bouc Blanc

Mountain refuge · Lac de la Rosière

Hiker's lunch stop near the lake. Traditional Savoyard plates, blueberry tart, a half-litre of rosé. Cash preferred.

  • Le Cap Horn

Slopeside in winter · Hiker lunch in summer

Reopens for the hiking season with a stripped-back menu — grilled meats, generous salads, the same panoramic terrace.

  • Aquamotion Café

    Family · All-day

Useful rainy-day option, kids' menu, large terrace. Not destination dining — destination convenience.

  • Picnic from Saveurs

    Provisioning · Village centre

The traiteur that supplies the chalets stays open in summer. Order a picnic 24 hours ahead — they'll pack it for the lake or a long hike.

Frequently asked

  • Do the palace hotels serve dinner in summer?

Most close their main restaurants. Les Airelles, Le K2 Palace and Cheval Blanc typically reopen mid-December. A handful keep a casual bar or terrace running for in-house guests only.

  • Which mountain restaurants reopen?

Bouc Blanc and Le Cap Horn are the most reliable; smaller refuges along the GR5 open weekdays from late June. Trail maps mark current openings.

  • Do I need to book?

Far less than in winter. Same-day lunch is usually fine; dinner at Le Chabichou or any open Michelin table still needs 24–48 hours.
