Family Luxury

For families travelling with three generations, cousins and friends — the chalets, hotels and on-the-ground care that make 1850 work.

The best family weeks in 1850 are organised six months out. Here is the editorial team's playbook — properties, childcare, ski programme and the evening rhythm.

Where families stay

  • Les Airelles

    Palace · most family-loved

The Family Suite (200 m²), a dedicated children's tea at 5 PM with pastry chefs, the Schtroumpfs kids' club and a heated outdoor pool. Multi-generation standard for 30 years.

  • Cheval Blanc Courchevel

    Palace · sleek & quiet

Slightly more grown-up than Les Airelles. The Carita spa accepts teenagers, the Le 1947 chef does a children's tasting menu, and the family duplex (240 m²) sleeps seven.

  • K2 Palace

    Ski-in/ski-out · cousins-friendly

Best for groups of cousins thanks to interconnecting Master Chalet suites. Indoor pool, climbing wall and the only resort-side bowling alley.

  • Large chalets in Bellecôte / Nogentil

    8–12 bedrooms

Chalet Bellecôte, Chalet Edelweiss, Chalet Ormello: full-staffed properties for grandparents-down-to-grandchildren, with chef, nannies and dedicated chauffeur included.

Frequently asked

  • When should we book for February half-term?

By July. The four Palace family suites in 1850 are typically held by returning families through May; the August release window is your best opportunity.

  • Best ski school for children?

ESF Courchevel for first-timers and progression weeks. Supreme for English-only families with confident kids. We pair siblings of similar levels into a private group of 4–6 for the week.

  • Are there childcare and nannies in resort?

Yes — certified English-, French- and Russian-speaking nannies available at chalets and Palace hotels. Day rates from €280; evening/overnight rates negotiable.

  • Family-friendly restaurants?

Le Cap Horn (mountain), La Mangeoire (in resort), Le Chabichou (Michelin but welcoming), Bistrot Manali. Avoid Le 1947 and Baumanière 1850 for children under 10.
