Private Ski Instructors

The senior instructors who teach the same families year after year. Book the person, not the school.

In 1850 the difference between a junior ESF and a senior 'moniteur diplômé' is enormous. We book by name, not by school — and we hold slots for members through August.

The schools we work with

  • ESF Courchevel 1850

    200+ instructors · 6 languages

The largest school. Strong on children's progression, group classes and competition coaching. Russian, English, Italian, German, Spanish on request.

  • Supreme Ski School

    British-run · adults & teens

Boutique English-speaking school favoured by London families. Excellent for adult improvers and teenagers on bumps and steeps.

  • Magic in Motion

    International · multilingual

Polished, multilingual and structured around progression weeks rather than one-off lessons. Strong off-piste programme with UIAGM guides.

  • New Generation Ski School

    British · technique-focused

Founded by ex-Olympic coaches. Strongest pick for adults who want filmed analysis and biomechanical coaching.

  • Russian-speaking instructors

    Across all four schools

We maintain a personal shortlist of Russian-speaking moniteurs across ESF, Supreme and Magic in Motion, including some who lived in Moscow.

  • UIAGM mountain guides

    Off-piste · ski-touring

For couloirs, the Italian side, or a Vanoise ski-tour. Full-day rate with two guests typically €750–€950 plus heli costs if applicable.

Frequently asked

  • How much does a private instructor cost?

Senior ESF: €380–€520 per half-day for a private lesson (1–4 people). Supreme and Magic in Motion: €420–€600. Peak weeks (New Year, February half-term) are priced 15–25% higher.

  • When should I book for New Year and February half-term?

By August at the latest. Members of The Society can hold slots through July.

  • Do you book group classes for cousins / friends?

Yes — we co-ordinate dropped-off children from multiple families into one private group, with one senior instructor for the week. Usually 4–6 children of similar level.

  • Can the instructor meet at the chalet?

Yes — every senior instructor in 1850 includes door pickup. Boot-fitter visits to the chalet can be co-ordinated the same morning.
