Direct Booking
How booking through The Society works — and why it costs you the same as booking the hotel directly.
What direct booking through us means
Same rate as the hotel
Best-rate guaranteed
We pass through the property's published rate exactly — no booking fee, no commission markup, no opaque package pricing.
Partner welcomes
Glass of Ruinart · upgrade pool
Selected hotels include a Society welcome — usually a glass of Champagne, sometimes a room category upgrade depending on availability at check-in.
One editorial contact
From booking to departure
The same person who suggested the room handles every change, dinner reservation and transfer request. No call centre. No different agents per email.
Direct ledger with the hotel
No funds held by us
Payment goes directly to the hotel using their payment link or wire instructions. We never hold your deposit or final balance.
Cancellation as per hotel terms
Transparent
Your cancellation policy is exactly the hotel's — nothing added, nothing layered. We help you negotiate flexibility when life changes.
No GDS or wholesaler chain
Direct contracts only
We do not source through wholesalers, bedbanks or GDS. Every property we recommend has a named contact who recognises us by name.
Frequently asked
Will the hotel give me a better rate if I book direct?
No — the published 'direct rate' is the same one we pass through. Both routes are commission-funded; only OTAs (Booking, Expedia) add markups.
Why book through you instead of the hotel website?
Three reasons: the Society welcome at participating properties, the editorial concierge handling everything around the stay (transfer, dinners, ski), and honest comparative advice across the eight 5★ properties in 1850.
Do you hold my payment?
Never. The hotel charges you directly via their own payment system.
What if I find a lower price elsewhere?
Tell us — we will match it through the hotel directly. OTAs occasionally run flash sales the hotel can replicate on request.
