New L’Eclipse gondola opens — capacity raised to 3,200/hour
Replacing the old Saulire Express I, the new 10-seat L’Eclipse cabin lifts hourly capacity by 60% and cuts the Courchevel-to-Méribel transfer by four minutes.
The S3V lift company opened the new L’Eclipse gondola on 28 November, replacing the 1992-vintage Saulire Express I. The new line uses 10-seat cabins, runs at 6 m/s, and moves 3,200 skiers per hour — up from 2,000 on the old installation.
For Trois Vallées skiers, the practical effect is a four-minute reduction in the Courchevel-to-Méribel cross-valley transfer. The €42 million project was co-financed by the commune and S3V.
